The
ramblings of a inert mad man…
January 9, 2003
Momma don’t
let your baby grow up to be a Cowboy….unless Bill Parcels is their head
coach. The current over/under on the ‘Boys next season is at 8.5. As
much as I think Parcels is a great coach the schedule is pretty tough.
Aside from playing their regular NFC East schedule the Giants, the Eagles,
and the ‘Skins twice, they will also have Atlanta, Buffalo, and Miami at
home and must go on the road to New Orleans, Tampa Bay, New England, and
the Jets. The Cowboys are pretty solid on defense which will keep them in
a lot of games but you still have to be able to score points. Take the
Under.
Saturday
opens with Pittsburg at Tennessee. Titans are 5-0 ATS in their last
5 games. Pittsburgh is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games.
Has anyone
noticed that the New Jersey Nets are for real? At home the Nets are 18-2
SU and have been 15-5 ATS.
Atlanta at
Philadelphia. This should be fun to watch. This game will feature
the NFL’s two best running quarterbacks, McNabb and Vick. Last week Vick
showed he can win a big game by beating the Packers at home during the
playoffs.
The Falcons
are 7-2 ATS on the road. 5-1 ATS when they are the dog. But
wait…the Eagles are 6-2 ATS, including a 5-2 ATS as the home favorite.
Wake
Forest, always remembered by me as Brian Piccolo’s alma mata is the only
other undefeated team in Division 1 Men’s Basketball aside from Duke.
Wake is 6-0 ATS. (If you don’t know who Brian Piccolo is stop reading now
and go rent Brian’s Song. And I am not talking about the awful remake; I
mean the one with James Caan and Billy Dee Williams)
49ers vs.
the Bucs. The Niners are an awful 0-8-1 TS in their last 9 games.
Their last cover was Nov 3 against the Raiders at home. The Bucs are
6-2 both SU and ATS in their last 8 home games.
Hey if
you’re going to remake Brian’s Song why don’t they just remake Rudy and be
done with it. They could probably get Corey Feldman to play Rudy. His
career isn’t going anywhere. In case you were wondering, Notre Dame Men’s
hoops: 12-2 SU, 5-4 ATS, 3-2 over/under.
Jets at
Raiders. This is the fourth time in the last two years that the Jets
and the Raiders have met in Oakland. The Raiders are 3-1 SU in those
games but ATS are 2-2.
Both teams
have been hot coming into this week. The Jets are coming off a 41-0
trouncing of the Colts. The Raiders are 5-3 ATS in their last 8 home
games. In Oakland’s last 10 games at home the under has been 9-1.
Why would
you want to remake Brian’s Song anyway? Next you’ll be telling me that
they made a Slap Shot II. What are they going to do get one of the washed
up Baldwin brothers to star in it?
